Centre Women Sit in Ninth at Callaway Gardens Collegiate
PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. (CentreColonels.com) – The spring season kicked off for the Centre women's golf team at Callaway Gardens G.C. in Georgia. With 18 holes left to play at the Callaway Gardens Collegiate, the Colonels sit in ninth place in a clogged leaderboard.
Centre posted a combined team score of 329 on Monday to finish one shot back of traditional powerhouse Methodist and three shots back of Huntingdon. Wittenberg sits in first place after Monday's round.
Individually, the low scorer of the day for the Colonels was junior Jill Edgington (Edgewood, Ky.), who finished with a round of 77 to sit in a tie for tenth place overall. Edgington's round was highlighted by birdies on the par 5 15th and the par 4 fourth hole.
Junior Alison Miller (Lexington, Ky.) fired a round of 81 and capped off her Monday with three straight pars and then a birdie on her last hole of the day.
Junior Madison Grant (Lexington, Ky.) also played her best golf at the end of her day, recording a birdie on the par 4 eighth and a par on the ninth to wrap up the round.
Junior Eliza Hudson (Mauckport, Ind.) and freshman Cameron Cahill (Lexington, Ky.) rounded out the scoring for the day for the Colonels with respective scores of 87 and 92, with Hudson recording a birdie on the 18th hole. As a team the Colonels played their final hole of the day at one under park
