Centre Women Finish 11th at Golfweek Fall Preview
DESTIN, Fla. – This afternoon play wrapped up from the prestigious Golfweek Division III Fall Preview at Mission Inn Resort and the Centre women's golf team opened up their 2017-18 campaign with an 11th place finish.
Centre posted a combined team score of 332 on Monday, an improvement of three shots from their Sunday round. The Colonels finished seven shots ahead of Transylvania and four shots back of Sewanee. New York University won the tournament, followed by Carnegie Mellon and Washington & Lee.
Individually, the top round of the day for the Colonels belonged to senior Alison Miller (Lexington, Ky.), who shook off a rough opening two holes to play a solid front nine, eventually finishing with a score of 82 and a two-day score of 166.
Freshman Bailey Plourde (Newcastle, Maine) was the low scorer for Centre in the tournament after posting a score of 83 on Monday. Plourde played even par on the back nine and finished in the overall top 25 for tournament score of 163. Senior Madison Grant (Lexington, Ky.) also shot a round of 83, calming down after a birdie on the par 4 ninth hole.
Senior Eliza Hudson (Mauckport, Ind.) tied Grant with a two-day tournament score of 169 after she posted a round of 84 on Monday. Sophomore Cameron Cahill (Lexington, Ky.) rounded out Centre's Monday performances with a score of 95.
The Colonels will return to the course this weekend when they head to the University of Kentucky to compete in the Transylvania Fall Invitational.
