Centre women tied for third after 18 holes at HCAC Preview
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Centre women's golf team returned to the course on Saturday for the first of two days of competition in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Preview at Keene Run G.C. With 18 holes in the books, the Colonels sit in a tie for third place.
Centre fired a combined team score of 328 on Saturday to tie Rose-Hulman for third place overall. The Colonels sit four shots back of host school Transylvania. Texas-Dallas took the early lead at the tournament with a score of 314.
Individually, the best round of the day belonged to senior Alison Miller (Lexington, Ky.), who returned to her hometown and posted a score of 74, good for a tie for second place overall. Miller sits just one shot back of the individual lead in the tournament.
Freshman Bailey Plourde (Newcastle, Maine), followed up her promising debut at the Golfweek Division III Fall Preview with a score of 81 for the Colonels on Saturday, which puts her in a tie for tenth place overall.
Senior Madison Grant (Lexington, Ky.) had the best round of her young final campaign with the Colonels on Saturday in her hometown, finishing in the top 20 overall with a score of 83.
Junior Allie Henrie (Geneva, Ill.) and sophomore Cameron Cahill (Lexington, Ky.) finished off Centre's Saturday totals with respective scores of 90 and 97. Senior Eliza Hudson (Mauckport, Ind.) entered as an individual and posted a score of 89. Sophomore Lauren Zachs (Sarasota, Fla.) also entered as an individual and ended her first round of play in 65th place.
