Centre women finish fourth at General’s Invitational
LEXINGTON, Va. – The final round of play has just wrapped up from the General's Invitational at Lexington Golf and Country Club and the Centre women's golf team came away with a fourth place finish out of 13 teams.
The Colonels posted a combined team score of 320 on Tuesday to bring their two-day score to 639, 11 shots back of host Washington & Lee and Carnegie Mellon. Methodist won the tournament with a two-day score of 625. Centre bested fifth place Bridgewater (Va.) by 14 shots.
Individually, the low score of the day for the Colonels belonged to freshman Bailey Plourde (Newcastle, Maine), who fired a round of 76 on Tuesday, the lowest round of her young collegiate career. Plourde's two-day score of 162 put her in a tie for 18th place overall.
Seniors Eliza Hudson (Mauckport, Ind.) and Madison Grant (Lexington, Ky.) posted respective scores of 80 and 81 on Tuesday. Both Grant and Hudson finished in the top ten for the tournament, with Grant's two-day score of 157 putting her in seventh place overall, while Hudson tied for ninth place overall with a tournament score of 159.
Senior Alison Miller (Lexington, Ky.) and sophomore Cameron Cahill (Lexington, Ky.) finished off their tournaments with respective Tuesday scores of 83 and 93. Miller's two-day score of 161 put her just inside the individual top 15 for the tournament.
The Colonels will wrap up their fall schedule on Oct. 15-17 with a return to Destin, Fla.
