Colonels finish 11th at Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational
DESTIN, Fla. - The final round of play is in the books from the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational at Baytowne G.C. and the Centre women's golf team finished in 11th place, equal to their finish from their season opener in Destin.
The Colonels posted a combined team score of 333 on Tuesday to bring their three-day tournament score to 991, two shots in front of Birmingham Southern and two shots back of Rhodes. Washington University was a wire to wire winner in the tournament, followed by Huntingdon and Mary Hardin-Baylor.
Individually, Centre had a pair of players post team low scores on Tuesday as freshman Bailey Plourde (Newcastle, Maine) and senior Alison Miller (Lexington, Ky.) each fired rounds of 81. The Tuesday scores moved Plourde into a tie for 16th place overall and Miller into the individual top 50 for the tournament.
Senior Madison Grant (Lexington, Ky.) birdied two of her first six holes and shot a score of 84. Grant was the only Centre player whose scores improved across all three rounds for the tournament.
The Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational represented the final tournament on the Colonels' fall schedule. The Centre women's golf team will return to action in the spring for the second half of the schedule.
