Centre women in sixth after opening day at SAA Championships
DICKSON, Tenn. - The opening round of the SAA Women's Golf Championships wrapped up earlier today from Greystone G.C. With 36 holes left to play, the 17th ranked Centre women's golf team sits in sixth place.
The Colonels posted a combined team score of 339 for their friday round as they currently sit ten shots back of Rhodes. Berry is the clubhouse leader after the first day of play, followed by Sewanee.
Individually, freshman Bailey Plourde (Newcastle, Maine) continued her hot spring with the best score of the day for the Colonels. Plourde finished with a score of 79, including a birdie on the par 4 fourth hole, to finish in a tie for eighth place after the opening 18 holes.
Senior Alison Miller (Lexington, Ky.) finished with a score of 82 on Friday, including a birdie on the par 4 fifth hole. Miller is currently tied for 13th place overall with two days of play left.
Senior Madison Grant (Lexington, Ky.) got off to a good start with a birdie on her second hole, eventually finishing with a score of 87. Senior Eliza Hudson (Mauckport, Ind.) and sophomore Cameron Cahill (Lexington, Ky.) finished off Centre's Friday totals with respective scores of 91 and 94.
With plenty of room to move up the leaderboard and plenty of golf left to be played, the SAA Tournament will resume on Saturday with the second of three rounds of play. Click HERE for Golfstat live scoring.
