The Centre women's lacrosse team recorded its 10th straight win with a 17-11 victory over Berry in a Southern Athletic Association game Saturday in Danville, Ky.
Sarah Mastey (Chattanooga, Tenn.) scored her 200th career goal and went on to lead the way for Centre with six goals, an assist, 10 draw controls and three caused turnovers. Jacqueline Anderson (Louisville, Ky.) scored four goals with a game-high five assists while Meg Hawthorne (Cary, N.C.) and Emily Madden (Louisville, Ky.) each scored twice.
Berry scored the first goal to take an early lead, but Centre scored the next five goals and led the rest of the way. The Vikings rallied to cut the margin to two late in the first half, but it was as close as they would get as the Colonels scored the final two goals of the half to take a 9-5 lead to the break.
Centre continued to build on its lead in the second half, going on to lead by as many as seven goals at 15-8 after scoring three straight with 12 minutes remaining.
Centre goalie Allison Eisner (Louisville, Ky.) recorded six saves in the victory, and Centre took 33 shots to Berry's 26. The Colonels held a 19-11 edge in draw controls and a 16-14 advantage in ground balls.
With the win, Centre improves to 12-1 overall and stays perfect in SAA play at 6-0. Berry drops to 6-6 overall and 3-3 in the conference. The Colonels travel to Denison for a nonconference game on Wednesday.
