Colonels Drop Non-Conference Tilt to Redlands

DANVILLE, Ky. (CentreColonels.com) – The Centre women's lacrosse team fell by a score of 12-4 to visiting Redlands in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday evening at the South Campus Field.
The Colonels suffer their second straight loss to move to 3-2 overall on the season, while the Bulldogs earn their second consecutive win to improve to 3-2.
After Redlands opened scoring for the game with a goal by Breanne Rideout, Centre junior midfielder Hannah Bellamah (Loveland, Ohio) knotted the contest at 1-1 with a goal just under seven minutes into the game.
The Bulldogs would answer with six goals in a row to gain a 7-1 edge heading into halftime.
Redlands extended its run to seven straight goals with a score by Sadie Pickering to start the second half, before the Colonels responded with three consecutive goals, two by senior midfielder Ellen Resinger (Louisville, Ky.) and another by Bellamah to shrink the Bulldogs' lead to 8-4.
Unfortunately for Centre, Redlands would cap the game by netting four more goals en route to the 12-4 triumph to close its road trip.
Resinger finished with a pair of goals, three ground balls, three draw controls and three caused turnovers, while Bellamah had two scores and a team-high four ground balls.
Hanna Morford and Pickering each scored a game-high four goals for the Bulldogs, while goalkeeper Quinn Egan tallied 22 saves and a game-high 14 ground balls for Redlands.
Centre compiled a 12-6 advantage on draw controls and a 31-27 shooting edge.
The Colonels return to Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play this weekend traveling to Mt. Berry, Ga. to take on Berry at 11 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 4. The Vikings are 3-3 on the season after a 15-8 win over Otterbein on Tuesday.
