Resinger Nets Career-High Seven Goals as Colonels Best Goucher 15-5

DANVILLE, Ky. (CentreColonels.com) – It was a frigid evening for a lacrosse game at the South Campus Field in Danville, but senior midfielder Ellen Resinger (Louisville, Ky.) brought the heat with career-high seven goals to lead the Centre women's lacrosse team to a 15-5 triumph over visiting Goucher.

The Colonels win their third straight game to improve to 6-2 on the season while the Gophers drop to 0-7.

Centre opened the contest with four consecutive goals, as junior midfielder Hannah Bellamah (Loveland, Ohio) found the back of the net three times and Resinger scored her first goal of the night.

Goucher got on the board with a score by Allie Clay, before junior attackman Colleen Jackson (Gaithersburg, Md.) capitalized on the free position attempt to push the Centre lead to 5-1.

Rachel Grosso minimized the deficit to 5-2 with a goal for the Gophers, before the Colonels responded with a 3-1 run to cap the first half with goals by Resinger, Bellamah and Jackson, giving Centre an 8-3 advantage at the break.

The Colonels would net the first seven goals of the second half with five of those scores coming off the stick of Resinger. Sophomore midfielder Hannah Hardy (Louisville, Ky.) and freshman midfielder Abby Whitford (Dayton, Ohio) also found the back of the cage for Centre.

The Gophers added two late goals to shrink the final deficit to 15-5.

Jackson finished with a pair of goals and two assists for the Colonels.

Junior goalkeeper Natalie Marek (Louisville, Ky.) recorded 11 saves to go with a game-high seven ground balls for Centre.
