SEWANEE, Tenn. (CentreColonels.com) – Senior forward Destinie Graves' (Lexington, Ky.) overtime goal lifted the 17th-ranked Centre women's soccer team to a thrilling 3-2 triumph at Sewanee on Saturday afternoon, helping the Colonels claim the outright Southern Athletic Association (SAA) championship and earn hosting rights for the upcoming SAA Tournament.

Centre finishes a perfect 7-0 in SAA action this season, improving to 15-1-2 overall. The Tigers fall to 8-8-1 overall and 5-2-1 in conference play.

Sewanee owned a 1-0 advantage at the half on Saturday, as Savannah Williams put the Tigers on top in the 35th minute.

Sewanee would hold that lead for 30 minutes of action until Graves scored her first goal of the day off the assist by freshman forward Alana Hughes (Lexington, Ky.) to knot the game at 1-1 in the 66th minute.

Just over four minutes later, the Tigers regained their lead when Kiley Ezzell found the back of the net to put Sewanee ahead 2-1.

In the 75th minute of action, senior defender Tori Dillard (Bowling Green, Ky.) would answer with the equalizer off the assist by senior midfielder Amber Cowell (Culver, Ind.) to tie the contest at 2-2.

The Colonels outshot the Tigers 4-1 the rest of the way, but Sewanee was able to preserve the tie and send the pivotal conference match into overtime.

In the bonus period, Graves netted her SAA-leading 22nd goal of the season in the 98th minute to clinch the road victory for the Colonels.

The Tigers held advantages of 17-11 in shots and 6-1 in corner kicks in the losing effort. Sewanee outshot Centre 11-1 in the first half, but the Colonels held a 10-6 shooting edge the rest of the way.

Senior goalkeeper Olivia Alford (Louisville, Ky.) finished with four saves for Centre.

The Colonels will now host the SAA Tournament for the third consecutive season. Centre will take on eighth-seeded Millsaps next Saturday, Oct. 29. The time of the match has not been announced yet.
