Centre, Piedmont battle to scoreless draw in Sunday’s nonconference meeting

DEMOREST, Ga. – Centre women's soccer went a full 110 minutes on the road against Piedmont, but after two extra periods the sides finished in a scoreless draw at the Walker Athletic Complex.

The Colonels move to 5-2-2 after their second tie of the season, while the host Lions remain without a loss at 6-0-2 overall. Sunday's meeting was a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament opening round, which the Colonels won 4-1 at home.

Shots were heavily in Centre's favor at 17 to five, as were corner kicks (six to one), but the Colonels' five shots on goal were all turned aside by Piedmont's Miranda McNalley.

Freshman Rachael Boule (West Barnstable, Mass.) came off the bench to lead Centre with four shots, while classmate Madeleine Espy's (San Antonio) two on-goal were a team-high.

Senior goalie Sarah Youkilis (Lexington, Ky.) finished with a pair of saves in the draw.

After a trio of road matches in a row, the Colonels return to the friendly confines of Amend Field for a midweek meeting with Mount St. Joseph. Kick is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET Wednesday, Sept. 27.
