MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – Sophomore Alana Hughes (Lexington, Ky.) buried two goals as Centre women's soccer earned another winning decision in conference play, defeating Berry, 3-1, on the road at Pearson Field.

The Colonels improve to 6-3-2 overall and are 2-0 in the Southern Athletic Association, while the Vikings fell to 1-5-1 (0-2).

The Colonels scored two goals in quick succession early in the first half to take an early advantage.

Just 100 seconds later senior Amy Dean (Cincinnati) scored for the second match in a row, making it 2-0 on a helper from junior Hannah Sirkin (Alexander, N.C.).

Senior goalie Sarah Youkilis (Lexington, Ky.) saved the first Vikings shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but in the 23rd the hosts got on the board on Megan Radosta's score.

Centre took the 2-1 lead into the half, and for nearly the entire second period maintained the same margin.

Hughes struck again in the 89th minute, putting the finishing touches on the conference victory while giving her a team-high six goals on the season. Sophomore Meghan Paynter (Danville, Ky.) picked up the assist.

The Colonels finished with a huge margin in shots (26 to 5), shots on goal (13 to 3) and corners (7 to 2).
