GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Centre women's soccer defeated DePauw on the road Monday evening, earning a 3-1 decision at Reavis Field.
The Colonels scored early and never trailed in the match, improving to 7-3-2 while pushing the host Tigers to 2-8 overall.
Sophomore Meghan Paynter (Danville, Ky.) scored from roughly 25 yards out just four minutes into Monday's meeting, giving the visitors an early 1-0 advantage on her third goal of the season.
The rest of the half went without a goal from either side, and the Colonels carried their 1-0 lead into the break.
Junior Keeghan Francis (Knoxville, Tenn.) netted an unassisted goal in the 60th minute to give Centre a two-goal margin, good for her co-team-leading sixth tally of the year.
DePauw would get on the board and pull within a goal on Bailey Ehrens' score less than three minutes later.
Centre maintained its one-goal lead until late in the match, when Kristin Dean (Liberty Township, Ohio) scored her third of the season to seal the victory. Francis found the freshman open in front of the goal, earning the assist.
Senior Sarah Youkilis (Lexington, Ky.) finished with three saves in-goal for the Colonels.
Centre returns to its conference slate later this week, traveling to face Millsaps Friday at 6 p.m. ET.
