2017 SAA Women's Soccer All-Conference Awards

ATLANTA – A host of Centre women's soccer student-athletes earned year-end honors from the Southern Athletic Association Monday morning.

Sophomore Jessie Turner (Versailles, Ky.) was named SAA Defensive Player of the Year to highlight the team's awards. Turner has been the cornerstone of a defensive unit that leads the conference and ranks in the top 25 nationally in goals-against average.

Turner is joined on the All-SAA First Team by freshman midfielder Averi Faulk (Crestwood, Ky.) and sophomore forward Alana Hughes (Lexington, Ky.)

Faulk is the only Colonel to start all 20 matches this season, and is one of three rookies on the first team.

Hughes leads Centre with 34 points, ranking in the top four in-conference in points, goals (11) and assists (12). She has contributed at least one point in each of Centre's last five matches, including the SAA Championship run.

Junior Keeghan Francis (Knoxville, Tenn.) was named to the All-SAA Second Team after leading Centre with 12 goals, third-most in the conference.

A handful of Colonels earned All-SAA Honorable Mention nods, including senior Sarah Youkilis (Lexington, Ky.), freshman Gracie Fitzgerald (Georgetown, Ind.), junior Hannah Sirkin (Asheville, N.C.), and senior Mackenzie Kern (Cincinnati).

Youkilis leads the SAA in both save percentage (.831) and goals-against average (0.50), completing 12 clean sheets.

Fitzgerald earned a SAA Defensive Player of the Week honor earlier this season, and started 19 of 20 matches as a rookie.

Sirkin made 19 starts for Centre, providing three assists from her midfield position, and Kern became a regular starter for the Colonels down the home stretch of the season.

Centre, recently crowned SAA champs for the sixth year in a row, finds out where it will play in the upcoming NCAA Tournament today during the 1 p.m. selection show.
