Colonels Fall to Birmingham Southern in SAA Semifinals

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. ( – Coming off its first conference tournament win since the 2012 season, the sixth-seeded Centre women's tennis team dropped a 5-1 decision to No. 2 seed Birmingham Southern on Saturday in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament Semifinals on Saturday at Old Fort Park.

The Colonels close the 2016 season with a 9-8 ledger, while the Panthers improve to 15-4 and advance to Sunday's SAA Tournament Championship match against top-seeded Sewanee.

In addition, senior Kim Randall (Johns Creek, Ga.) was named to the SAA All-Tournament team for her performance.

On Saturday, sophomore Courtney DeLong (Louisville, Ky.) earned the lone win for the day for the Colonels, picking up a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Sara Cohen at the No. 2 singles position.
