Rao, Williams Represented in Final ITA Rankings

TEMPE, Ariz. (CentreColonels.com) – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently released its final 2016-17 rankings, with Centre sophomore Neha Rao (London, Ky. / South Laurel) and junior Aliza Williams (Cincinnati, Ohio / Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy) each representing the Colonels in the singles and doubles rankings.

In addition, Centre closed out its historic 2017 campaign ninth in the Atlantic South Regional Rankings.

Rao and Williams sit seventh in the ITA Atlantic South Regional Doubles Rankings and 25th in the Division III Doubles Rankings. The tandem finished fifth in the NCAA Regional Rankings, as well.

The duo posted a perfect 16-0 mark against Division III opponents on the year. Rao and Williams closed out the season with 13 straight doubles wins including an 8-3 triumph over Sewanee in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) title match.

Both Rao and Williams were First Team All-SAA selections for their performances this season.

Rao, who finished with an 11-6 ledger in dual match singles action this year, closed the season 18th in the ITA Atlantic South Singles Rankings.

This marks the highest year-end singles or doubles rankings in program history.

The Colonels advanced to their first ever conference title match in 2017, stringing together a school-record 11 match winning streak along the way under the guidance of SAA Coach of the Year Currie Martin.
