Centre women earn first SAA victory at Rhodes, 5-1

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Centre women's tennis dominated Southern Athletic Association foe Rhodes, 5-1, Saturday afternoon at the Dunavant Tennis Complex.

The Colonels (7-10, 1-3 SAA) pick up their first conference victory of the season, throttling the Lynx (3-12, 1-3), especially in singles action.

Centre began proceedings by taking two of three doubles matches, starting at No. 3 where Kenny Snow (Elizabethtown, Ky.) and Zena Maddux (Hopkinsville, Ky.) coasted past Kayle Thorson and Marissa Bobay, 8-2.

At No. 2 doubles, Caroline Stallings (Clarksville, Md.) and Emily Zelichenok dropped Mia Mullen and Tricia Sculco, 8-1.

 Rhodes' lone point came in No. 1 doubles, where Dasha Safarian and Caroline Doherty edged Aliza Williams (Cincinnati) and Abigail Kent (College Station, Texas), 9-8(2). 

The first three singles matches to conclude were all identical 6-0, 6-0 sweeps for the Colonels. 

Snow dropped Thorson at No. 5, Zelichenok cruised past Mullen at No. 4, and Stallings ended the match with her straight-set rout over Sculco at No. 3. 

Centre meets another SAA rival in Hendrix tomorrow (Sunday) at 9 a.m. ET.
