Rodenfels Shatters Mile Record as Centre Women Finish Fourth at DePauw Classic

GREENCASTLE, Ind. (CentreColonels.com) – The Centre women's track and field team brought a partial squad to DePauw University for the second straight week, this time competing in the DePauw Indoor Classic. The Colonels finished fourth overall with 75 points, but second among Division III teams at the event.

Sophomore Annie Rodenfels (Centerville, Ohio) set her second school indoor record in as many weeks with her performance in the mile. Rodenfels finished second overall in 5:08.53, breaking Ashley El Rady's 2015 record in the event by over 13 seconds. Rodenfels also set a new indoor record in the 3000m last week at DePauw. Rodenfels also finished second in the 800m with a time of 2:24.01.

Freshman Molly O'Dea (Louisville, Ky.), who set a new program record in the triple jump last week, had an excellent meet for the Colonels. O'Dea once again won the triple jump, covering 35-10.50 to beat the second place jump by over three feet. She also finished second in the long jump and eighth in the 60m.

In other jumping events, the Colonels had an excellent day in the high jump as senior Caitlin Yockey (Morrow, Ohio) placed third with a clear of 4-11.75 while junior Emily Winkler (Louisville, Ky.) cleared 4-09.75 to finish fourth. In the pole vault, sophomore Taylor Singleton (Hendersonville, N.C.) took third place with a clear of 9-06.25.

Freshman Hannah Jazdzewski (Lexington, Ky.) had a pair of solid races for the Colonels, taking third place in the 400m with a time of 1:04.28 and finishing fourth in the 200m in 28.15. Freshman Courtney Gibson (Catlettsburg, Ky.) joined Rodenfels in the 800m scoring column, posting a time of 2:36.58 to take sixth place overall.

Junior Aja Leachman (Louisville, Ky.) had a strong day of throws for the Centre women. Leachman had a weight throw of 43-11.25 to take fourth place, and then followed that up with a fifth place shot put of 35-10.50.

The Colonels will remain in the state of Indiana for next week's meet as they travel to Anderson for the Fred Wilt Invite.
