Rodenfels breaks 5k record, moves into top 25 nationally
NAPERVILLE, Ill. - North Central University hosted the Dr. Keeler Invitational on Thursday evening, a meet that allows for individuals to finetune their performances in the hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Track and Field Championships. Junior Annie Rodenfels (Centerville, Ohio) had a big day at the track in the 5k.
Rodenfels, who previously owned a school record time of 17:22 in the women's 5k, posted a time of 17:03 on Thursday to shatter her previous record time and once again add her name to the Centre women's track and field record books.
Not only did the time give Rodenfels her seventh program record, but it also put her in the top 25 in the nation for the event. The 5k is the second event in which Rodenfels is currently ranked in the national top 25, as she was ranked tenth in the 3000m steeplechase at the time of the last NCAA Performance List update.
