HANOVER, Ind. (CentreColonels.com) – The Centre volleyball team fell by a score of 3-1 in a non-conference matchup at Hanover on Wednesday night at Collier Arena. Centre moved to 1-2 with the loss, while Hanover improved to 3-2 on the season.

A back-and-forth affair in the first set, the Colonels found themselves all knotted at 26-26 when a kill by junior outside hitter Hailey Foote (Prospect, Ky.) off the assist by junior defensive specialist Morgan Babey (LaGrange, Ky.) gave Centre a one-point advantage and left the Panthers facing set point.

Hanover then used a 14-2 run in the second set en route to a 2-0 lead over Centre.

The third set belonged to the Colonels, as Centre jumped out to an early 9-2 lead fueled by four kills, including two by freshman outside hitter Peyton Vacala (Savannah, Ga.).

The Panthers answered with an 8-2 run to shrink the Colonels lead to 11-10, before Centre build its advantage back to six points at 20-14.

Hanover responded with a 9-2 surge to take a 23-22 lead over the Colonels. However, Centre would score the final three points of the set to earn the 25-23 victory.

With the score knotted at 5-5 in the fourth set, the Panthers used a 11-4 run to gain a 16-9 advantage. Hanover would build its lead to eight points at 22-14 before Centre scored three consecutive points on kills by Hailey Foote, freshman middle hitter Keeley Morton (Bristol, Tenn.) and a service ace by Babey to shrink the Panthers' advantage to five at 22-17. Hanover then answered with three straight points of its own to close out the 25-17 set win.
