Rodenfels Sets Course Record as Colonels Win BC/CC Cross Country Jamboree
BEREA, Ky. – The Centre women's cross country team had its season opener delayed to Friday afternoon by inclement weather and made the most out of the situation with a first place finish in the BC/CC Cross Country Jamboree.
Centre scored 22 points to win Friday's meet as the Colonels were the only team to have all five scoring runners in the individual top ten. Berea finished second with 48 points, followed by Asbury with 64.
Individually, junior Annie Rodenfels (Centerville, Ohio) picked up where she left off in track season and kicked off the season with a bang, completing the two-mile course in 11:18.90 to win the race and set a new course record.
Freshman Hallie Searcy (Louisville, Ky.) posted an impressive second place individual finish in her college cross country debut, crossing the finish line in 12:06.87. Sophomore Courtney Gibson (Catlettsburg, Ky.) finished right behind Searcy in third place at 12:09.20.
Rounding out Centre's scoring times, senior Marisa Moore (Glasgow, Ky.) posted a seventh place finish with a time of 12:22.25, while sophomore Margueritte Wheeler (Louisville, Ky.) finished ninth overall in 12:41.34. Freshmen Alison Anderson (Hixson, Tenn.) and Madison Malloy (Louisville, Ky.) just missed out on the individual top ten with respective times of 12:47.06 and 12:54.10.
The Colonels will return to Berea for their next meet as they will participate in the Berea Invitational on Sept. 16.
