Centre women move to 6th in Regional Rankings

NEW ORLEANS - The US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association released its second batch of weekly regional rankings and the Centre women's cross country team improved to sixth in the South/Southeast Region after their season opener.

The Colonels, who opened the season ranked seventh in the South/Southeast Region, moved up one spot in the latest poll after an impressive showing at the BC/CC Cross Country Jamboree at Berea College. Centre had five out of the top ten individual times at the meet, with junior Annie Rodenfels (Centerville, Ohio), freshman Hallie Searcy (Louisville, Ky.) and sophomore Courtney Gibson (Catlettsburg, Ky.) posting a 1-2-3 finish.

In addition to winning the race, Rodenfels set a new course record at Berea's two-mile track and was named the Southern Athletic Association Women's Runner of the Week for her efforts.

The Colonels will return to Berea on Saturday to compete in the Berea Invitational.
