Colonels take 15th at Greater Louisville Classic
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After a two-week layoff, the Centre women's cross country team returned to action at the Greater Louisville Classic at the University of Louisville. Competing in the meet's Blue race against a field comprised of teams from all divisions, the Colonels finished 15th out of 30 teams, 5th among Division III squads.
The top time of the day for Centre belonged to junior Annie Rodenfels (Centerville, Ohio), who finished fourth overall on the 5k course with a time of 17:55.13. Rodenfels finished second overall among Division III competitors in the field, with only Ariel Jensen of Lewis & Clark besting her time by less than a second.
Sophomore Courtney Gibson (Catlettsburg, Ky.) posted a time of 19:02.30 to finished 21st overall among the Division III field. Senior Marisa Moore (Glasgow, Ky.) was the next finisher for Centre with a time of 19:29.15. Freshman Hallie Searcy (Louisville, Ky.) had a fine meet in her hometown, recording a time of 19:35.29. Freshman Alison Anderson (Hixson, Tenn.) and sophomore Margueritte Wheeler (Louisville, Ky.) rounded out the scores for Centre with respective times of 19:40.56 and 19:46.57
The rest of Centre's squad competed in the Silver race at Louisville and took 18th place in that competition, with sophomore Mary Douglass Hallman (Newnan, Ga.) posting the top time for the Colonels, running the 5k course in 20:38.22.
The Colonels will be back in action next week when they travel to Owensboro, Ky. to compete in the Fast Cats Classic.
