The Centre volleyball team took on Asbury College on Tuesday, October 12 in Wilmore, Ky. and fell in three sets. The Colonels are now 10-13 overall and they remained at 2-6 in the SCAC.
Centre fought hard in the first match but was unable to keep up with Asbury, as they dropped the set 25-19. Asbury carried the momentum into the second set and ended up winning 25-15. The Colonels wouldn't give up and they had their best performance in the third set even though they came up short 25-22.
Senior Rebecca Pugh (Colfax, Calif.) led Centre in kills with seven, while junior Stephanie Woeste (Louisville, Ky.) posted six. Junior Hannah Greer (Owensboro, Ky.) recorded 19 assists in the match. Leading the team in digs and aces was junior Laura Hench with 18 digs and one ace. Senior Ashton Hupman (Lexington, Ky.) had four blocks and Woeste had three.
Next up for the Colonels will be the SCAC East/West Tournament on Friday, October 15 and Saturday, October 16 in Sherman, Tex. Centre will take on Trinity in their first match on Friday, October 15 at 3:00 p.m. Austin College will be hosting the event.
