Box Score The Centre field hockey team took on Bellarmine on Friday, October 22 in Danville, Ky. and the Colonels were unable to come away with a win, as they dropped the match 1-0. The match was part of homecoming festivities for Centre.
During the first half of play the Colonels dominated the action as they out shot Bellarmine 11-5 and they also had the 8-5 advantage in penalty corners, but Bellarmine was able to take the 1-0 lead with 14:42 remaining in the first half. Ellen West was able to find the back of the cage on the Natalie Perry assist.
The Colonels had several chances to respond in the second half of play, but they were unable to answer and Bellarmine went on to win the match 1-0.
Bellarmine had the 5-4 advantage in shots during the second half, but the Colonels had the 3-2 advantage in penalty corners.
Junior Patty Cowley (Louisville, Ky.) had six saves in goal for Centre.
Next up for the Colonels will be the second match of the season against in state rival Transylvania on Saturday, October 23 in Lexington, Ky. The game is set to start at 5:00 p.m.
