Freshman Michael Fryar (Lexington, Ky.) and senior Regina Basconi (Johnson City, Tenn.) were chosen to the third annual SCAC Men's and Women's Cross Country All-Sportsmanship Teams.
Twenty two men's and women's cross country runners were selected to the 2010 squad. Each head coach was asked to elect one member from his or her team who displayed good sportsmanship throughout the season.
"Michael and Regina are both very deserving of being named to the men's and women's cross country SCAC All-Sportsmanship teams. Both are very fine young people who on a daily basis display exactly what good sportsmanship is all about. Their constant supportive attitudes towards the team and great character overall are just a couple of examples of why I feel that they are very deserving of this award," stated head coach Lisa Owens.
Fryar finished the season by saving his best race for the final regular season meet. The Colonels traveled to Wilmington, Ohio to compete in the Wilmington Fall Classic on Friday, October 15 and Fryar had a personal best time of 28:06.15.
Basconi, a captain for the Centre women, competed in the first two meets for the Colonels, but she was unable to compete for the remainder of the season due to illness. She continued to be involved with the team and was very supportive. During her first three seasons she was a consistent scorer for Centre and in her freshman season she was named the most valuable runner.
