Box Score 2 Competing in its final regular season conference weekend of the season, the Centre College volleyball team fell to Birmingham Southern College and then defeated Oglethorpe University Saturday, Oct. 22 in Atlanta, Ga.
The Colonels fell in three games to the Panthers in their first match of the day 25-17, 25-19 and 27-25.
Sophomore Lydia Prevost (Knoxville, Tenn.) led the way with eight kills. Freshman Suzanne Asbury (Louisville, Ky.) tallied six kills and six blocks. Sophomore Kary Stivers (Louisville, Ky.) had 20 assists and two blocks, while junior Jenna Foushee (Louisville, Ky.) added 10 digs.
Centre bounced back in match two to defeat the host, Stormy Petrels, 3-1. After falling 25-20 in game one, the Colonels answered with wins in the next three games 25-15, 25-22 and 25-15 for the four-game victory.
Asbury had a big match finishing with 12 kills, eight blocks and three service aces. Prevost added nine kills. Stivers had 31 assists and an ace, and junior Amelia George (Boston, Mass.) posted 18 digs and one ace.
Centre, now 14-16 overall and 6-7 in the SCAC, will finish regular season conference play Sunday, Oct. 23 against Sewanee-University of the South. Start time is set for 11 a.m. in Atlanta, Ga.
