Box Score 2 Playing in its final tune-up prior to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Tournament, the Centre College volleyball team defeated both Piedmont College and the University of Cumberlands in the 2011 Halloween Bash Saturday, Oct. 29 in Danville, Ky.
The Colonels won their first match of the day in four games. After winning game one 25-19, Piedmont won 25-23 in game two before Centre answered with a 25-12 win in game three and a 25-22 win in game four.
Sophomore Lydia Prevost (Knoxville, Tenn.) tallied 16 kills and seven digs. Freshman Suzanne Asbury (Louisville, Ky.) had 13 kills and seven service aces. Senior Laura Hench (Lexington, Ky.) notched 11 kills and seven digs. Senior Hannah Greer (Owensboro, Ky.) recorded 43 assists and 15 digs. Sophomores Kary Stivers (Louisville, Ky.) and Kim Lownds (Evergreen, Colo.) added 14 digs, while junior Jenna Foushee (Louisville, Ky.) finished with 13 digs.
Match two saw Centre win in three games 25-19, 25-19 and 25-9.
Senior Stephanie Woeste (Louisville, Ky.) led the way with 15 kills and five blocks. Greer had 37 assists. Hench and Foushee finished with 23 and 18 digs respectively, while Asbury ended with seven kills and four aces.
The Colonels will head to Jackson, Miss. Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 4-5 to play in the 2011 SCAC Tournament. Centre will open the tournament against Rhodes College Saturday at 12:15 p.m.
