Box Score The Centre field hockey closed out its regular season with a loss, falling 4-0 to in a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference match with Hendrix on Sunday in Conway, Ark.
Though the Colonels defeated Hendrix 4-1 in the teams' first meeting, Centre was unable to find the cage in the rematch, being shut out for the first time since the second game of the season on Sept. 10.
Erika Jasso of Hendrix scored her conference leading 15th and 16th goals of the season while teammate Lauren Thornburg added the other two. The first of Thornburg's goals came just five minutes into the game and gave Hendrix the lead for good.
Senior goalkeeper Patty Cowley (Louisville, Ky.) picked up four saves on the day while senior back Jennifer Bohnert (Louisville, Ky.) had a defensive save. Hendrix took 11 shots to Centre's 10 and held an 8-5 edge in penalty corners.
Centre closes out the regular season with a 10-7 overall record and a 3-3 mark in the SCAC. The result leaves the Colonels in a second place tie in the league with Hendrix, which improved its overall record to 10-4. Rhodes tops the regular season SCAC standings with a 5-1 record.
The Colonels will return to action Friday in the SCAC Tournament.
