With the loss, the Colonels three-game winning streak was snapped as they fall to 4-7. Transylvania improves to 2-1.
After two scoreless innings, the Pioneers put six runs on the board in the third on four hits, two errors and a hit-by-pitch.
Centre cut the lead in half with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Sophomore Zeke Edwards (Harrodsburg, Ky.) scored two runners with a double to left-center field and then scored from third on a run-down between first and second to end the inning.
Transylvania wasted little time getting back on the scoreboard scoring four more runs in the top of the fifth and then adding another in the seventh, while Centre could only add one more run the rest of the way.
Freshman pitcher Kyle Neu (Cincinnati, Ohio) was saddled with the loss after allowing six runs - five earned - on four hits with one walk and three strikeouts in four innings of work.
Sophomore shortstop Aaron Ammann (Winnetka, Calif.) was the only Colonels to finish with multiple hits going two for three on the evening.
Centre will next travel to Maryville, Tenn. for its first road game of the season. The Colonels will play one nine-inning game against Maryville College starting at 2 p.m.
