The Centre College women's basketball team trailed by two points at halftime to Austin College but out-scored the Kangaroos 46-20 in the second half to post its 13th straight win Friday, Jan. 27 in Sherman, Texas.

The Colonels led 14-5 just under five minutes into the game, but a 16-4 run by Austin gave the Kangaroos a 21-18 lead at the 8:19 mark.

Centre regained the lead with 1:52 left in the opening period, but a three-pointer by Christina Kime at the end of the half gave Austin a 34-32 lead at the break.

After Kime missed a pair of lay-ups to open the second half, junior Bridget Winstead knocked down a three-pointer to put the Colonels in front for good at 35-34.

The lead grew to double-digits at the 12:19 mark when senior Alyson Burke (Burgin, Ky.) drilled a three-pointer and would get no closer than 10 points the rest of the way.

Centre shot a sizzling 67.9% (19 of 28) in the second half. While the Colonels rarely missed, the same could not be said for Austin, as the Kangaroos (1-19 overall, 1-9 SCAC) made only six of 35 shots from the floor in the second half (17.1%).

Junior Chelsea Benham (Taswell, Ind.) scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead Centre. Senior Maggie Prewitt (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) tallied 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds and Winstead added 12 points in the win.

Kime paced the Kangaroos with 15 points and eight assists. Angeleena Young scored 12 points, while Allison Taylor grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

Centre (16-1 overall, 10-0 SCAC) will look to remain unbeaten in league play when the play the University of Dallas Sunday, Jan. 29 at 1 p.m. CST in Irving, Texas.
