Centre's Rachel Brannen was honored by the Southern Athletic Association as its Defensive Player of the Week for women's soccer, this award coming for games played between Oct. 8-14.

Brannen, a senior defender from Fort Mitchell, Ky., scored the first goal of a 3-0 win over Oglethorpe on Saturday. Brannen also led a defense that posted a 2-0 win over Maryville on Tuesday and a 4-0 win over Spalding on Sunday to extend the team's shutout streak to nine games. Over those three games the Colonels allowed just two corner kicks and 16 shots with only three of those on goal.

On the season, Centre is 14-0 while posting 11 shutouts and allowing just three goals. Brannen has scored three goals on the year.

Centre returns to action on the road this week with a road trip to Hendrix on Friday and Rhodes on Sunday.
