Box Score 2 The Centre Volleyball Team defeated Mt. St. Joe this morning. Although the victory was in straight sets, the total point difference was just seven (26-24, 27-25, 25-22). "The Mount is similar to us: They are capable of playing with anybody. We needed to bring our 'A' game in order to be successful against them," according to Head Coach
James Neyhouse.
In fact, as is so often the case with success, the credit is properly spread around. In blocking, sophomore
Suzanne Asbury (Louisville, KY) had six; and
Lydia Prevost, the Knoxville, TN junior, three.
The leader in digs was
Jenna Foushee (Louisville, KY), who had 15 in the penultimate home match of her impressive Centre career.
Catherine Janszen, from Cincinnati, OH, and a junior, added nine digs; and 'Cat' produced an equal number of kills while hitting .409. Other killers were Prevost with seven to accompany a hitting efficiency of .500, and Bardstown, KY freshman
Beth Cecil, who put the ball away six times.
Junior
Kary Stivers (Louisville, KY) assisted her hitters on 15 occasions, three more than
Elizabeth Janszen, the freshman from Cincinnati, OH. Elizabeth also registered two service aces.
For the Colonels the contest resulted in a fine way to begin their annual Halloween Bash. Part II is an afternoon affair with Berea on the other side of the net.
