Box Score Sophomore Suzanne Asbury (Louisville, KY) continued her good play with four blocks, eight kills, and a hitting efficiency of .400, and junior Kimberly Lownds (Evergreen, CO) matched the four blocks. Beth Cecil, the freshman from Bardstown, KY, led in kills with nine, and hit .294; and, playing in only one set, her classmate, Jessica Peak (Owensboro, KY), recorded a block, two kills, and a .667 hitting efficiency. Assists were handled mainly by junior Kary Stivers (Louisville, KY), who had 14, and Elizabeth Janszen, the freshman from Cincinnati, OH, with 11.
Centre will now center its attention on a big weekend in Georgia, where the team will compete against Berry, Oglethorpe, and Piedmont on October 5, 6, and 7, respectively. The first two of those matches are conference contests: Berry is currently in first place with just one loss, and that one inflicted by Centre. From Berry's point of view, revenge would not only be sweet but also create some breathing space between them and Centre. On the other hand a second win over Berry by the Colonels will leave the latter positioned to fight for the league championship. May the better team show up.
