Eisner's second half goal keeps win streak alive

Box Score

Senior defender Brittany Eisner (Louisville, Ky.) scored with just over 10 minutes to play to give the Centre College women's soccer team a 1-0 win over Birmingham Southern College Sunday, Oct. 7 in Danville, Ky.

The win ups the Colonels record to 11-0 overall and 3-0 in the SAA, while Birmingham Southern falls to 5-5-1 overall and 2-1 in league play.

The two teams battled through a scoreless first half. Centre had an 8-4 edge in shots in the first half, but neither team found the back of the net.

The second half was much like the first, but at the 78:20 mark, Eisner hit a long ball from outside the box for the game-winner and her first goal of the season.

Junior goalkeeper Megan Foley (Louisville, Ky.) posted a shutout in the first half, and freshman Holly Hilton (New Palestine, Ind.) blanked the Panthers in the second half. The two keepers combined to stop all four shots they faced.

Centre will step out of conference play Tuesday, Oct. 9 with a non-conference match against Maryville College. Start time is set for 5 p.m. in Maryville, Tenn.
