The three-run home run in the sixth was all that was needed as the Centre College baseball team fell 4-2 to Transylvania University Wednesday, March 28 at Gary Wright Field in Danville, Ky.

After getting five strong scoreless innings from junior pitcher Tommy Munoz (Fort Myers, Fla.), the Pioneers put runners on first and second with one out. Ken Riley hit an 0-2 pitch over the right center field fence to give Transylvania a 3-1 lead.

The Pioneers added another run in the eighth to extend it to 4-1, while Centre was only able to scratch across a run in the third on sophomore outfielder Cody Nelson's (Joelton, Tenn.) two-out single and another in the bottom of the eighth when sophomore Kyle Cook (Maineville, Ohio) scored senior Cameron Fishman (Northridge, Calif.) on a one-out ground out. 

Sophomore pitcher Sam Denny (Huntsville, Ala.) took the loss after allowing three runs on two hits with a walk and a strikeout. 

Eight different players had a hit each for Centre in the loss.

The Colonels will next host Millsaps College Saturday, March 31 in a doubleheader. Start time is set for 1 p.m. at Gary Wright Field in Danville, Ky.
