The Centre men's tennis team wrapped up its season with a 5-4 victory over Colorado College in the fifth place match of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tennis Championships on Sunday in North Little Rock, Ark.
The Colonels fell behind 2-1 after doubles play, but came back to win four of the six singles matches to claim the 5-4 victory. The fifth place finish is the highest for Centre at the SCAC Championships since 2007.
The one doubles win came from the team of Woody Rini (Richmond, Ky.) and Parker Lawson (Prospect, Ky.), who held off Colorado's Robert Kasemodel and Zach White 8-6 in the No. 3 match.
Rini also picked up a singles win, defeating Leo Zen-Ruffinen 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 3 match. Also picking up singles victories were Xan Witherington (Oak Ridge, Tenn.) with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 win in the No. 2 match, Trey Williamson (Nashville, Tenn.) with a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 win in No. 4 and Andrew Howard (Frankfort, Ky.) with a 6-4, 6-2 win in No. 6.
The Colonels finish the season with a 7-14 record.
