Even in defeat there were fine highlights for Centre: Suzanne Asbury (Louisville, KY) returned to top form on defense with five blocks. When she moved to the other side of the net, her kills numbered 11, her hitting efficiency was .400, and she threw in three service aces for good measure. Jessica Peak (Owensboro, KY) continued what Centre hopes may be remembered as a "break-out day" as she hit .318 with nine kills, and added two blocks.

For her part, Beth Cecil (Bardstown, KY) caused several balls to be removed from further play after some of her 11 kills and five more were added by junior Shelby Shelton (Scottsville, KY). Kary Stivers (Louisville, KY) assisted her hitters 30 times, and Abbi Jacobi (Louisville, KY) produced three more aces. Sophomore Hope Wigginton (Campbellsville, KY) forced Austin to commit two additional service errors.

Joining the team bus (as it slowed down in passing through Nashville) were LuAnne and Gabriella Prevost, respectively mother and sister of Lydia. LuAnne remarked on the "amazing parental support that Centre Volleyball has"; and it is a hard fact that the Volleyball Colonels are in first place by a wide margin in the category of "We Have the Best Parents Around".  LuAnne thought that she "might not have been able to be here this week without the generous offer of seats on the bus," although she is one of many parents whose loyal presence is almost as predictable as their daughters'.

Coach Neyhouse believes that "the presence of parents on our bus is a big plus for us, and not only because I can count on their votes when we choose a movie: I am inclined to invite them to ride back with us tomorrow from Memphis after we finish with Rhodes and Lyon."
