Box Score The Centre College men's basketball team's six-game winning streak came to and end in a 73-69 loss to Birmingham Southern Sunday, Jan. 6 in Birmingham, Ala.
The Colonels, which won their last six games after starting the season 2-2, fall to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the SAA, while the Panthers improve to 9-3 overall and 3-0 in league play.

Centre pulled within one (26-25) when junior Collin Lopez (Lopez) hit a three-pointer with 6:34 to go in the opening period, but the Panthers stretched the lead to as many as 10 before taking a 42-35 lead into the intermission.
The Colonels opened the second half with a 12-4 run and took their first lead at 47-46 since the 13:40 mark in the first half.
Tied at 50-50, Birmingham Southern scored the next five points and would not relinquish the lead the remainder of the way.
Senior Bryon Ellis (Russell Springs, Ky.) hit a jumper with just under two minutes left to make it a one-point game (70-69), but Centre missed its final five shots of the game and Blaise White hit a three-pointer for the final 73-69 tally.
Ellis finished with a team-high 14 points to lead the Colonels. Lopeze scored 12 points off the bench and sophomore Josh Karsner (Frankfort, Ky.) added 10 points and four rebounds.
Larry Thomas scored a game-high 29 points and grabbed five rebounds, while White had 19 points and eight rebounds.
Centre will step out of conference play Wednesday, Jan. 9 against Brescia in Danville, Ky. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. in Alumni Gymnasium.
