Centre men pick up 1-0 road win at BSC

The Centre men's soccer team picked up its first Southern Athletic Association victory of the season with a 1-0 win at Birmingham-Southern on Friday.

After a scoreless first half, the only goal of the game came in the 56th minute when Tyler Daniels (Bowling Green, Ky.) scored off an assist from Jack Goblirsch. The goal was the first of the year for Daniels while the assist was the fifth for Goblirsch, which ranks second in the SAA.

The Colonels defense was able to hold Birmingham-Southern to just seven shots overall with none on goal in posting the team's fifth shutout of the season. Centre took 14 shots in the game and held a 3-1 edge in corners.

With the win, Centre improves its overall record to 6-3-2 on the year and evens its SAA record at 1-1. Birmingham-Southern falls to 7-4-1 overall and is also 1-1 in the conference. The Colonels continue their road trip with a game at Millsaps at 2 p.m. Central Time on Sunday.
