Box Score In the final minute of regulation, the Centre women's soccer tem got a goal from Morgan Collins to defeat Birmingham-Southern 1-0 on Friday in Birmingham, Ala.
Collins, a senior from Utica, Mich., scored her team-leading third goal of the season with just 12 second left to play in regulation to pull out the victory. The goal came off an assist from Tori Dillard (Bowling Green, Ky.).
Before that point, the teams played 89 minutes of scoreless soccer. Centre controlled the game most of the way, taking 15 shots to six for Birmingham-Southern and holding a 12-1 edge in corners.
Holly Hilton (New Palestine, Ind.) and Megan Foley (Louisville, Ky.) split time in goal for the Colonels with Hilton making the team's only save. Richelle Byrd had eight stops for the Panthers.
The shutout was the eighth of the season for Centre, which improves to 8-4-1 overall and stays unbeaten in SAA competition at 2-0. BSC falls to 3-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Centre continues its weekend road trip when it takes on Millsaps at noon Central Time on Sunday.
