The Centre College men's basketball team earned its second win of the season against Berry College with a 71-60 victory Sunday, Feb. 3 in Rome, Ga.

With the win, the Colonels improved to 15-4 overall and 8-2 in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), while Berry falls to 4-17 overall and 1-9 in conference play.

The Vikings scored the first four points of the game, but sophomore Josh Karsner (Frankfort, Ky.) and senior Bryon Ellis (Russell Springs, Ky.) knocked down back-to-back three-pointers to give Centre a 6-4 lead.

After Berry tied the game on its next possession, the Colonels went on an 11-3 run to take a 17-9 lead with 8:54 remaining in the first half.

The lead was cut to four at the 7:23 mark, but Centre pushed it to 10 and would go on to take an eight-point lead (29-21) into the break.

Berry's Mac Whalen hit a three-pointer to open the half and make it a five-point game, but the Colonels scored the next seven points and would lead by as many as 15 points before finishing with the 11-point victory.

Ellis and freshman Blake Scinta (Louisville, Ky.) had big games to lead Centre. Ellis scored a season-high 21 points on six of 11 shooting, including five of nine from long range, while Scinta scored a game and career-high 22 points to go along with seven rebounds.

Mac Whalen led Berry with 21 points, seven rebounds and four assists and Jonathan Abrams added 15 points in the defeat.

The Colonels will return home Friday, Feb. 8 to host Birmingham Southern. The SAA contest will start at 8 p.m. in Danville, Ky.
