Box Score Leading 5-1 after five innings the Centre College baseball team allowed eight runs in the sixth and never recovered losing 13-6 to Hendrix College Sunday, March 17 at Gary Wright Field in Danville, Ky.
The Colonels jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the first and three in the second. Sophomore Trey Litsey (Louisville, Ky.) and freshman Michael Oaks (Nicholasville, Ky.) drove in a pair of runs each.
The Warriors scored their first run in the fifth to cut it to 5-1 and then scored eight runs in the top of the sixth on eight hits and four Centre errors to go in front 9-5.
Junior Kyle Cook (Maineville, Ohio) doubled home senior Aaron Ammann (Winnetka, Calif.) in the home half of the sixth, but Hendrix answered with a run in the seventh and three more in the eighth for the 13-6 win.
Senior pitcher Tommy Munoz (Ft. Myers, Fla.) took the loss. Munoz allowed six runs on nine hits, while walking one and striking out two.
Cook finished 4-for-5 on the day with an RBI and a run scored. Oaks and freshman Jake Johnson (Louisville, Ky.) each had two hits in four at-bats.
Centre will travel to Maryville, Tenn. to play Maryville College Tuesday, March 19. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
