The Centre women's tennis team suffered a close loss to Allegheny, dropping the match by the score of 5-4 on Tuesday in Hilton Head, S.C.
The Colonels took the lead by taking two of the three doubles matches. Kathryn Hays (Lexington, Ky.) and Lauren Dever (Portsmouth, Ohio) teamed up to win the No. 1 match 8-2, while Katie Howard (Frankfort, Ky.) and Alex Tolsdorf (Crestwood, Ky.) posted an 8-1 win in No. 2.
Allegheny claimed the match victory by coming back to win four of the six singles matches. Centre's two victories came from Dever, who won 2-6, 6-2, 10-4 in the No. 2 match while Abby Tudor (Richmond, Ky.) won 6-4, 6-0 in No. 4.
Though the match was the closest of the year to date, the Colonels fall to 0-4 and will look for their first win Wednesday against Bloomsburg.
