Box Score 2 After losing game one 10-0 in eight innings, the Centre College baseball team allowed an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh to fall 5-4 in game two to Berry College Saturday, April 13 in Rome, Ga.
The Colonels allowed single runs in the third and fourth inning and then again in the sixth and seventh to trail 4-0 after seven innings.
Berry then ended the game in the eighth with six runs on only two hits. Centre committed two errors and walked four in the inning.
Senior pitcher Joe Nash (Elizabethtown, Ky.) was the losing pitcher. Nash allowed three runs - two earned - on six hits over six innings. He walked two and struck out three.
Senior Aaron Ammann (Winnetka, Calif.) finished with two of the Colonels' eight hits in the game.
Berry (15-18 overall, 12-5 SAA) scored an unearned run in the first and three more in the second, while Centre was able to plate one run in the second on junior Kyle Cook's (Maineville, Ohio) RBI single.
Following a scoreless third and fourth, the Colonels scored three runs in the third when freshman Jake Johnson (Louisville, Ky.) knocked in two runs with a bases-loaded single and sophomore Trey Litsey (Louisville, Ky.) tied the game with an RBI ground out.
The Vikings won the game in the bottom of the seventh. Litsey entered the game in the sixth in relief of senior starting pitcher Tommy Munoz (Ft. Myers, Fla.). After retiring the first two hitters of the inning, a pair of errors on the same play gave Berry a runner at second base. The next hitter singled to center for the game-winning run.
Litsey was saddled with the loss. He allowed one unearned run on two hits with two strikeouts in 1.2 innings.
Centre managed only three hits in the game and fell to 10-20 overall and 4-13 in the SAA.
