The Centre volleyball team played its final SAA home match of the year on Sunday afternoon as they held their Senior Day festivities. Centre honored the careers of Suzanne Asbury (Louisville, Ky.) and Celia Moser (Troy, Ohio) and came away with a victory over the Birmingham Southern Panthers in straight sets.

The first set was the most tightly contested set of the match as neither team led by more than five points at any point in the set. BSC tied the score at 21, but the Colonels scored three of the next four points to force a set point. The Panthers were able to fight off the first set point, but the Colonels cashed in on the second and won 25-23. Centre played better as the match progressed, using a run in the middle of the second set to pull away to a 25-20 win. The third set was a dominant performance by Centre, who used an early 11-1 run to break the set open and cruise to a 25-13 win, sealing the victory.

Suzanne Asbury led the way for the Colonels with nine kills, followed by Beth Cecil (Bardstown, Ky.) and Jessica Peak (Owensboro, Ky.) with seven each. Elizabeth Janszen (Cincinnati, Ohio) posted all 28 of Centre's assists in the match. Beth Cecil topped Centre with 18 digs, followed by Morgan Babey (LaGrange, Ky.) with 11 and Erin McGrath with ten. The Colonels also had a season high 12 aces in the match, with Erin McGrath and Abbigale Jacobi (Louisville, Ky.) recording five each.

The Colonels, now 6-6 on the year in SAA play, will cap off their conference schedule next weekend with road games at Hendrix and Rhodes.
