The Centre men's soccer team picked up its second straight win and ran its unbeaten streak to nine games by defeating Birmingham-Southern 1-0 in a Southern Athletic Association game Friday in Danville, Ky.

The only goal of the game came just before halftime when Corey Caudill (Louisville, Ky.) crossed a ball in from the right side with Connor Reed (Newbury Park, Calif.) finishing to put Centre up 1-0 in the 41st minute. The goal was Reed's second of the year and the assist Caudill's first.

It was the second game in a row in which Centre scored just before the end of a mostly evenly played first half and went on to control possession for most of the second. Though the Colonels were unable to find another goal, they created several chances and outshot the Panthers 20-8 in the second half. Centre had several close calls in the half, including a Jeremy Carlson (Seattle, Wash.) header that hit the crossbar, but BSC was able to keep the Colonels from extending the lead, thanks to goalkeeper Jonas Heidrich making several acrobatic saves. 

Overall, Centre took 24 shots to Birmingham-Southern's 13 and put 16 of those attempts on frame to the Panthers' seven. Both teams took five corners, with all five of Centre's coming in the second half.

Ohan Missirian-Dill (Brentwood, Tenn.) made seven saves for Centre in the shutout, which was his seventh clean sheet this year and fourth in the last five games. Heidrich made 15 saves in net for Birmingham-Southern. 

The result, which is the Colonels' third straight 1-0 win over Birmingham-Southern, brings Centre's record to 7-2-5 overall and 3-0-2 in SAA play. The Panthers drop to 9-3-1 overall and 3-2 in the conference. The Colonels are back in action when they host Millsaps on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
