The postseason honors continue to come in for Centre volleyball player Beth Cecil, who was announced as an Honorable Mention All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Wednesday.
The honor was just the latest in a series of awards for Cecil, an outside hitter from Bardstown, Ky., who was also recently named First Team All-South Region by the AVCA, and selected to the All-SAA First Team by the league's coaches. The AVCA All-American selection was the first for a Centre volleyball player since Sarah Burger was an AVCA Honorable Mention All-American in 2004.
Cecil led the Southern Athletic Association with an average of 3.75 kills per set, and led Centre with 405 kills on the season, a total that ranked third in the conference. She also had 288 digs, good for second on the team.
Cecil was one of three SAA players named as an AVCA All-American.
For the 2014 season Centre finished with a 14-17 overall record, a 7-7 SAA mark, and reached the SAA Tournament semifinals.
