The Centre women's tennis team fell 8-1 to Bellarmine in its 2014 season opener Saturday in Louisville, Ky.
Centre's lone victory came in the No. 3 doubles match, where the team of Abby Tudor (Richmond, Ky.) and Katie Howard (Frankfort, Ky.) won 8-1 over Bellarmine's Madeline Tucker and Elizabeth Crush.
Centre dropped all six of its singles matches with the closest call coming from Tudor, who pushed Bellarmine's Jamie Claeys to three sets in the No. 5 match before falling 6-1, 1-6, 10-4.
Bellarmine improves to 4-1 on the season while Centre opens at 1-0. The Colonels are back in action when they travel to Charleston on Saturday.
