Box Score

The Centre men's lacrosse team improved its record to 6-3 and 3-1 in SAA play with their fourth consecutive win, defeating the Birmingham Southern Panthers by a score of 13-7.

Senior Peter Murphy (Louisville, Ky.) led the way for Centre with three goals and three assists, pacing the team in both categories. Freshman Mitchell Kraus (Louisville, Ky.) added two goals and two assists for the Colonels, while senior Connor Stubbs (Decatur, Ga.) added two goals. Senior Harry Meisner (Cincinnati, Ohio), junior Wesley Hardman (Narragansett, R.I.) and sophomores Joey Lencewicz (Gates Mills, Ohio), Matt Hughes (Vero Beach, Fla.), Conor Bennett (Alpharetta, Ga.) and Dustin Cowell (Culver, Ind.) all scored goals for the Colonels against Birmingham Southern. Additionally, Matt Hughes, junior Bryce McCoy (Hudson, Ohio) and senior Corey Krill (Louisville, Ky.) recorded assists in the game. Bryce McCoy stopped 14 of 21 Panther shots in goal.

The first quarter was a defensive struggle, with Mitchell Kraus providing the lone goal of the period. But Centre exploded for eight goals in the second period, with three coming from Peter Murphy. The Colonels scored the first six goals of the quarter, building a 7-0 lead before the Panthers scored their first goal. Centre countered the BSC scoring effort with goals from Murphy and Dustin Cowell in the final two minutes of the quarter and Centre led 9-1 going into halftime.

Centre held a 2-1 advantage in the third quarter, but Birmingham Southern scored the first four goals of the fourth period to cut the Centre lead to 11-6. The Colonels responded, scoring two goals in a minute span courtesy of Mitchell Kraus and Matt Hughes to make the score 13-6. Centre held the Panthers to one more goal the rest of the way to win 13-7. The Colonels won 13 of 23 face-offs, forced Birmingham Southern into 26 turnovers and held a 35-32 advantage in ground balls.

The Colonels will look to make it a perfect six for six on their road trip next week as they play at Transylvania on Apr. 2 and Oglethorpe on Apr. 5.
